| I've been using Sony Acid Pro for the past 7 years and just last night i bought Studio One Pro because i really like the direction of the DAW (And Sony isnt making Acid Pro Series any more ). What I'm trying to find out is, when i bring a beat into my project (in a single WAV format) i cant find out what the tempo of that beat is? In acid pro 7 all I had to do is right click on the track then go to 'paint Clip', then 'use original tempo' and right there it would show you the tempo of the track. Is there any such option in Studio one pro? In some of my beats from ACID when opened in Studio One have the tempo already set (when looked at in the 'inspector') But when somebody brings a beat over that they made and i open it in Studio One in the 'Inspector' they sometimes dont have the tempo set and its then that i dont know how to find it.? I can select 'dont follow' and the beat will sound normal but i would like to know what the tempo is so i can set it for the project. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

They decided to kill that line? That's surprising.
Anyway, if the file has an embedded tempo all you have to do is switch the track to 'timestretch' in the inspector to have it lock to the song tempo. If it doesn't have a stamped tempo, you can tell S1 what the file tempo is by putting it in the 'File Tempo' box. If it does it will show up there by itself.

| Ya a guy that does some of my drum projects also makes loops for Sony for Acid. And we were talking the other day and he said 'word from one the people on the inside is that Sony is not making the Pro version of Acid for awhile' and that they might be coming out with a Mac version when they do come out. But this is all some else word, nothing in stone. But on Wikipedia about acid pro it says that 'Acid Pro 7 is now discontinued', And its going on 3 years since they released a new pro version. Just saying.
back to the topic, thanks for the advice. But what i also want to know is that when i bring in the beat (i record alot of hip hop and alot of people just bring a beat on a cd to record over) as the first track and it has no stamped tempo how do i find its tempo? so i can set the song to its original tempo? Thanks again for your time and advice, it is appreciated!

1. Turn time stretching off (set to 'don't follow' in inspector).
2. Trim any leading edge off imported tracks (hold shift to override snap).
3. Shift track(s) to 1 (i.e. the start).
4. Shift drag tempo (click and drag tempo in transport)
5. Check at different bars to verify your accuracy.

| If your intention is to bend the audio afterwards, you can detect transients in v2 and lock them to the grid with quantize audio.
Also, every track recorded with S1 will have embeded tempo in it. |

| Listen to your track, look at your watch, count the number of beats for 30 seconds, multiply the result by two, that's your beats per minute.
Shift adjust tempo in S1 to taste. |

| Keep in mind that the loop will be stretched automatically if you have 'Automatically timestretch audio to song tempo' ticked when you create a song. |

| I use mixmeister bpm analyzer.it's a free software that you can drag anything in it and it will show you the bpm , then simply add it to the tempo of the song and voila!

This method simply does not work because the tap tempo function is not very well implemented in S1. After clicking for half a minute the tempo is still fluctuating between 122 and 129. In theory, if you could tap for one hour, you'd get pretty close to the correct tempo. When tapping tempo it does not matter if you don't tap exactly on the beat, what matters is how many times you tap and how much time has passed since the first tap. Studio One appears to only use the last 4 taps to calculate tempo which naturally is error-prone. Fcpeffects – reflect plugin (final cut pro x). Download traktor pro 2 full version free.
